How the “Yes High” Fuels an Energy Loop That Kills Consistency (and What to Do Instead)
Let’s be honest.
You’ve said yes to something—a mastermind, a collaboration, an event, or a connection call—and then found yourself thinking:
“Why did I say yes to this?”
You don’t actually want to back out. You’re not flaky. And this thing you committed to? It might even be aligned.
But the moment the high wears off—that buzz of momentum, clarity, and connection— you crash into your baseline:
Overwhelm. Self-doubt. The pressure to prove. Fear that you won’t be good enough. Feeling like there isn’t enough time (because you fill every open space on your calendar).
And just like that, you start questioning the very thing you felt lit up about days (or even hours) before.
This is the “Energetic Overcommitment Loop”
Here’s how it goes:
- You get a hit of inspiration or connection.
- You say yes (from that energetic spike).
- Your nervous system stabilizes back into the frequency it knows best—urgency, fear, proving.
- You dread the thing you were once excited about.
- You beat yourself up, question your worth, or push through to prove you’re capable.
- The self-talk kicks in and reinforces the fear: “Why do I always do this?” “Maybe I’m not cut out for this.”
- That crash doesn’t just deplete you—it further crystallizes the old pattern.
- You do the thing, it actually goes great—and then…
- You do it all over again.
Sound familiar?
This is what happens when your baseline energy isn’t stable enough to hold the version of you you’re becoming.
You’re Not Flawed. You’re Patterned.
You’re not inconsistent. You’re just consistent in a frequency that doesn’t match the future you want to create.
Your nervous system feels safe in doing, proving, controlling. It doesn’t yet trust ease, clarity, or follow-through from alignment.
The biggest problem with this pattern? You don’t accept what the Universe is responding to. You work harder to ensure your success—because you know how to do that.
But that effort—while noble—throws you into the Cycle of Hard.
When you defy the Universe’s response by muscling your way forward, it perpetuates that exact cycle.
(And yes—we’ll break that down fully in the next blog.)
Because the Universe isn’t responding to what you want. It’s responding to what you embody most consistently.
And if you’re constantly chasing that high to say yes and then dragging yourself through dread to deliver… You’re not creating with intention. You’re reacting to your default energy—urgency, fear, proving, pressure, or even the protective belief that self-sufficiency is the only way to feel safe and successful—the patterns your nervous system knows best.
So, What Do You Do Instead?
First, recognize the gap. That high you feel when you say yes? It’s likely aligned with the future you want to create.
But the crash that follows? That’s your default energy pulling you back into what feels familiar.
The key isn’t to avoid the high. It’s to rewire the default.
You pause. You check in. You get curious: – What energy feels most familiar in my decision-making? – Do I feel safe in momentum, or do I fear what happens if it slows? – Is the excitement grounded—or is it a reaction to not wanting to miss out? – Am I saying yes from a grounded place, or an energetic high? – Is my system resourced to hold this commitment? – What frequency do I want to stabilize before making this decision?
You stop sourcing your alignment from the outside—and you build it from the inside.
This isn’t about doing less. It’s about doing from a new frequency. One rooted in safety. One that doesn’t need to prove anything. One that allows you to create powerfully—without the crash.
